OBJ, Daniel feud will end soon - Onabiyi
One of the founding fathers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Alhaji Sule Onabiyi, has said that the disagreement between former president Olusegun Obasanjo and former governor of the state, Chief Gbenga Daniel, will end soon.
Onabiyi said this on Sunday, after a reconciliatory meeting organised by the Ogun central arm of the party, adding that the feud between the duo was a ‘father and son’ issue, which would be sorted out by them in no time.
He allayed the fear that Daniel and his supporters would not be accomodated back into the fold, saying that the reconciliation effort would be total.
“This is what people think, theirs is son and father’s matter. You will not be there when the father will call the son or vice versa for reconciliation. This reconciliation is permanent,” he said.
The chieftain said the lingering crisis that engulfed the party some years back had been finally settled, maintaining that all factions had resolved to unite, in order to boost chances of the party in coming elections.
He said that the party needed some time to prepare for the task ahead. This, according to him, necessitated the resolve by the leaders and factional heads to bury their hatchets.
He added that similar reconciliatory meetings would also take place in Ogun West and East senatorial districts, adding that a statewide reconciliatory meeting would be organised soon, to bring everybody together under one umbrella of the PDP.
Onabiyi also expressed confidence in the fact that the peace and reconciliation achieved would endure.
